The Department of Humanities at Shaw University offers students a strong foundation in liberal arts subjects, such as English, History, public speaking and foreign language. Students in the department gain solid communication skills;in-depth, critical thinking and problem solving skills; exposure to diverse cultures and communities; and an understanding of different disciplines that leads students to participate more fully in the global community.

What Students Can Expect

Following graduation, humanities students are well prepared to enter the workforce or enroll in graduate and professional studies. With a solid liberal arts education, many of our graduates begin careers in education, law, broadcasting and publishing.
