Kinesiotherapy

Kinesiology is the study of human movement and all its manifestations.  A kinesiotherapist is a health care professional who, under the direction of a physician, treats the effects of disease, injury, and congenital disorders, through the use of therapeutic exercise and education.  The four-year program requires 1000 clock hours of clinical observation, practicum, and clinical internship.

Students complete specific coursework within a rigorous curriculum in such areas as anatomy, chemistry, mathematics, physiology, and psychology.  The program offers students preparation for work in Kinesiotherapy.  In addition, students can enter the job market with an undergraduate KT degree prepared for entry-level employment with cardiac rehabilitation programs, health and wellness programs, rehabilitation services in some Veterans’ Administration Hospitals, corporate and community fitness programs, health clubs, and similar fitness related industries.  KT students can also qualify for graduate school in physical therapy, medical school and other allied health professions.  Students must obtain Kinesiotherapy registration and pass the required exam to be eligible for many of the jobs mentioned above.  AKTA membership is recommended.
