Graduation Requirements Quick Summary

Bachelor's Graduation Requirements 

  • Apply for graduation (9/30/14 for Fall 2014 Graduates; 11/14/14 for Spring 2015 Graduates)
  • Earn a minimum of 120 semester credit hours
  • Take at least thirty(30) semester hours in residence at Shaw University (or at a Cooperating Raleigh College institution – Meredith College, North Carolina State University, Peace College, or St. Augustine’s College)
  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above
  • Fulfill Core Curriculum Requirementsincluding FRS 111/112 or OSU 121 
  • Fulfill the departmental and major course requirements specified (i.e., in your degree checklist issued by your major department)
  • Complete all coursework in the final semester (no incomplete grades)
  • Pay the graduation fee ($175 – Undergraduate Students)
  • Complete the Graduation Clearance Process and all assessments, surveys, and required departmental examinations

Master's Graduation Requirements 

  • Apply for graduation (9/30/14 for Fall 2014 Graduates; 11/14/14 for Spring 2015 Graduates)
  • Earn the minimum semester credit hours for your graduate program:
    • Master of Science (Curriculum and Instruction) – 42 hours
    • Master of Religious Education – 66 hours
    • Master of Divinity – 90 hours
  • Earn the cumulative grade point average for your graduate program:
    • Master of Science (Curriculum and Instruction) – 3.0 or above
    • Master of Religious Education – 3.0 or above
    • Master of Divinity – 2.0 or above
  • Complete all coursework in the final semester (no incomplete grades)
  • Pay the graduation fee ($225 – Graduate Students)
  • Complete the Graduation Clearance Process and all assessments, surveys, and required departmental examinations
