Humanities Names Reading and Writing Contest Winners
July 24, 2013 – The Shaw University Department of Humanities named the winners of its annual Reading and Writing Contest this spring. The contest encouraged students to submit their work in one of three categories: reading, analytical writing or creative writing.
Dorothy Wade's "Internal Struggles in Young Goodman Brown," won the reading category. Peter Chouquette received first place in the analytical writing category for his submission "Tupac Shakur - Ambition over Adversity." Additionally, there was a tie for the creative writing category. Shasane Watson won for her poem "Four Walls" and Manel Ben Cheikh won for his short story "Navigating Ambiguity." Each student received a certificate and $25 scholarship.
