Yolanda Adams Morning Show to Broadcast From Shaw

The Nationally Syndicated Show To Aid Shaw University with Fundraising Efforts

[RALEIGH, N.C.] - The nationally syndicated Yolanda Adams Morning Show will broadcast from the Shaw campus on Friday, September 9 from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The broadcast, which will emanate from the Thomas J. Boyd Chapel, is a partnership of Radio One, The Light 103.9, Shaw University and the Shaw University Class of 1981.

Entertainment will include “I Need Your Glory" national recording artist, Ernest Pugh, and The Shaw University Gospel Choir.  The broadcast will support the ongoing tornado relief fundraising efforts as well as scholarship funds at the private university.

“We are delighted that Radio One and Ms. Adams were compelled to reach out to us at such a critical time,” said Dr. Dorothy Yancy, interim president of Shaw University.

The need for Shaw University to recover fully from the tornado which devastated the campus on April 16 and closed the school days before the end of the semester is the number one fundraising goal of the institution.

Anita Brower, Vice-President of Institutional Advancement at Shaw University added,  “Shaw also needs contributions so we can award scholarships to our bright and promising students.”

During the broadcast of the radio program, listeners will be prompted to make checks payable to Shaw University and mail them to the Office of Institutional Advancement, 118 E. South Street, Raleigh, NC 27601 and reference “Yolanda – Disaster Relief” or “Yolanda – Scholarship” in the memo section of the check.  Online donations are also being accepted and listeners will be encouraged to make a donation at www.shawu.edu.

The Thomas J. Boyd Chapel is located at 811 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC (next to the Spaulding Gymnasium).  The event is free and open to the public.
