Professor Holsey-Hyman Featured on Durham Public Schools Website
January 29, 2013 - Shaw University Assistant Professor of Social Work, Monique Holsey-Hyman, was recently featured on the Durham Public Schools (DPS) website. Holsey-Hyman was interviewed as part of the DPS "District Voices" campaign where she discussed her experience as a professor, an educator, and a parent of children who attend DPS schools.
In addition, Holsey-Hyman is also a member of the Roger Herr Middle School Improvement Team (SIT). The team is comprised of elected parent representatives, teacher representatives and Michael Fuga, principal of the middle school located in Durham, NC. Each year, the work of the SIT is to identify a set of goals for the purpose of improving student achievement. The team is responsible for creating a plan that assesses the current program and needs at the school, designs strategies for improving student performance, and continually evaluates the results of its decisions and the effectiveness of the plan.
