Shaw Students Perform in Aida
August 22, 2013 - Four students from the Shaw University Choir recently performed in the North Carolina Opera Company's production of "Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi. Senior Christina Waldo and Junior Ryan Tosè sang in the chorus. Junior Taurian Parham and Sophomore DeQuan Jones served as the supernumeraries. Performances were held at UNC-Chapel Hill's Memorial Hall and the Duke Energy Center's Meymandi Hall. Both performances received rave reviews from the Opera Lively website and the News and Observer. "It's been a tremendous opportunity," said Tosè. "I can't wait to perform again." University Choir members Anthony Battle, Christina Barrow, Preston Poole, Mecca Williams and LaSheka Pride were able to attend the Meymandi performance because of Trustee Randolph Bazemore's generous donation.
