  • Shaw University has received approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to offer doctoral degrees. With this approval, Shaw University Divinity School proudly launches the nation’s first HBCU Doctor of Education in Artificial Intelligence and Moral Agency (EdD).

This program prepares visionary leaders to guide the ethical development and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence across ministry, education, healthcare, government, nonprofit organizations, business, and society.

    “Who will provide the moral leadership?”

    Artificial Intelligence can transform lives. But innovation without ethics creates risk. Our graduates will become leaders who ensure technology serves humanity—not the other
    way around. The Doctor of Education in Artificial Intelligence and Moral Agency (EdD) prepares leaders to ensure emerging technologies are guided by ethics, faith, justice, compassion, and responsible decision-making.

  • The Bachelor of Science degree in biology will prepare you for a wide range of careers, from medical school and nursing to biotech and scientific research in everything ranging from pharmaceutical science to ecology. Students will engage in the discovery of a broad range of topics, in the classroom, the lab and the field.

  • The Bachelor of Arts in Birth through Kindergarten Education is a licensure program accredited through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) that offers students who are interested in making a profound impact on the lives of young children and shaping the future of education. You will acquire proven techniques and credentials for engaging newborns, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. If you are committed to fostering a strong educational foundation for the youngest learners while shaping the future and making a lasting impact on the lives of children, this program is a perfect fit for you.

You will acquire proven techniques and credentials for engaging newborns, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.   • The M.S. in Early Childhood Education at Shaw University prepares graduates for advanced roles in the sector, including master teachers, administrators, and leaders, through a curriculum that extends foundational undergraduate studies with practical, real-life applications. The program offers concentrations in Early Childhood Administration and Birth-Kindergarten Education, accommodating full-time professionals with a mix of online and hybrid courses, and requires 33 to 36 credit hours depending on licensure needs.

  • The Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Fitness and Wellness is for students who are passionate about health, fitness, and overall wellness. Our program provides a solid foundation in the principles of physical fitness, human physiology, and wellness practices, preparing you for a rewarding career in sports training facilities, fitness centers, and healthcare. You will have the opportunity to provide exercise testing and prescription, while engaging in the discovery of a broad range of topics in the classroom, the lab, and the required internship.

  • The Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Pre-Athletic Training major is for students interested in a career working in sports medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, sports training facilities, corporate fitness centers, heath clubs and other programs that require exercise testing and prescription. You will gain insight into the Athletic Training profession, studying the mechanisms underlying human movement, exercise, and physical activity. Our faculty will prepare you for entry-level master’s in athletic training programs in physical therapy or occupational therapy.

The Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies prepares students to understand justice not only as a legal concept, but as a social, ethical, and practical issue that impacts everyday life.

    At Shaw University, the Justice Studies program integrates perspectives from criminal justice, sociology, law, public policy, and social justice to help students critically analyze systems of power, inequality, accountability, and reform.

  • Shaw University offers a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management, designed to equip students with professional skills essential for leading recreation programs in community agencies, schools, and fitness centers. The program emphasizes the importance of recreation in fostering community connections and promoting inclusivity for individuals with disabilities, preparing graduates for diverse careers such as Park and Recreation Agency Director, Recreation Director, and Recreation Specialist.

  • Shaw University’s Evelyn Lane Sanders Bachelor of Social Work Program (BSW), accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), equips students with a solid generalist foundation in social work, emphasizing involvement in justice, voting rights, and community advocacy. This program prepares graduates for advanced social work roles and accelerated Master of Social Work (MSW) programs, offering extensive hands-on experience through internships and community engagement, paving the way for careers in various fields such as child welfare, mental health, and public health.

  • The Sociology program at Shaw University offers an engaging and comprehensive education for students who want to understand the complexities of human society, social behaviors, and cultural dynamics. You will be provided with a solid foundation in sociological theory, research methods, and practical applications, preparing you for a diverse choice of career opportunities and advanced studies.

  • The mission of the Master of Arts in Theology and Ministry is to produce spiritual and ethical leaders and bi-vocational professionals for justice who can integrate faith and activism to affirm the humanity of others in every sector of a diverse society.

    The Divinity School offers only one other master-level degree to assist students with customizing their preparation for ministry in various fields in the public and private sectors. These sectors include public service, business, nonprofit, human service, healthcare, education, performing arts, justice, emergency relief, mental health, and social service sectors. The Master of Arts in Theology and Ministry (MATM) to integrate their career skills for applications in congregational and workplace settings.

    The MATM offers accelerated and traditional two-year degree program options so students can complete a 12-month or 24-month system of coursework in 8-week formats. It offers flexibility, practicality, and customization of learning experiences for working adult learners. Specifically, graduates of the MATM degree receive foundational theological training to engage in ministry in and outside of the congregation in fields to produce highly skilled bi-vocational leaders. The MATM facilitates interdisciplinary training for academic and professional ministry. Because applicants can transfer graduate credits to create an embedded specialization, it enhances the integration of learning experiences for working adults.
