Shaw University is located in the heart of Raleigh’s fast-growing downtown, a great place for internships and jobs. Raleigh has long been a hub for healthcare and big business. As one of the points of North Carolina’s Research Triangle, the city is also an important center for tech and biotech. Entertainment employers include the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and the Dreamville hip-hop festival.

Community Service

Helping others helps you develop career and leadership skills. You make a difference and build your resume, too. As a Shaw student, you can volunteer doing anything from assisting women and older adults to safeguarding our democracy and the climate. When you do community service, you may also receive training and mentorship.

Shaw’s relationships in Raleigh and our Community Involvement Initiative mean that there are many opportunities for meaningful service, both in local nonprofits and in city government.

    Creating a Career Action Plan helps you identify a path to a fulfilling job and work life. Shaw’s specialists will help you see your strengths and gaps, set goals, and find strategies to get you headed towards job success and fulfillment.

    Get Noticed

    Shaw’s Career Development Center experts will assist you in setting yourself apart. You’ll build your resume by identifying important experiences, and learn to write an eye-catching cover letter. You’ll also get interview tips and help preparing.

    Network and Explore

    You can make job connections right on campus by attending Shaw’s career and internship fairs. Employers with opportunities to fill will review your resume and give you insight on their companies. Representatives from graduate-school programs may be there, too.
