Most financial aid for which you might be eligible is based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (known as the FAFSA). This is a U.S. Department of Education form that you, or you and your parents, must fill in before we can determine how much aid you will receive.
The Department of Education uses financial and other information from your FAFSA to calculate your need for financial aid.
Once the Department of Education has processed your FAFSA, the eligibility results are sent to Shaw University. Based on the results, the Financial Aid office then creates a student aid offer for you. This offer may be made up of grants that you don’t have to repay, loans you must repay, work study, and any scholarships for which you may be eligible. (Note that some scholarships are not need-based.)
