How to Apply As a First-Year Student
Apply as a first-year student if you are coming from high school.
If your high school was outside the U.S. and you are not a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or DACA, you should apply as an International Student.

Students may elect to send the official transcripts directly from all institutions attended in one of the following ways:

- National Student Clearinghouse
- Scribble

You can choose to submit your SAT and/or ACT scores to us at the mailing address below.
Shaw U is test-optional, so you can decide if it’s right for your application. Shaw U will not render a decision based on a standardized test score.

Students can log into their application portal and check their application status two weeks after they have submitted their transcript.

In order to be considered for federal and state financial aid and scholarships, you’ll need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Please add Shaw University’s school code to your application: 002962.
How to Apply As a Transfer Student
Hey future Bear! We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Shaw U. We’re here to make the transfer process easy, whether you’re coming from a two- or four-year college.
Transferring Credits
To earn a Shaw degree, students transferring from an accredited senior college:
- Transfer no more than 90 credit hours.
- Complete successfully at least 30 semester hours or one academic year of study at Shaw University.
Students transferring from a two-year institution:
- Transfer no more than 70 credit hours.
- Complete 30 semester hours for the associate degree and at least 50 semester hours for the baccalaureate degree, at Shaw University.

Verification
Admission to the University is contingent on verification of your graduation from high school and receipt of transcripts showing your satisfactory performance in any courses completed after applying for admission.
Submission of false, distorted, or incomplete statements on or with the admissions application or submission of fraudulent residence affidavits may result in denial of classes, loss of tuition and fees paid, exclusion or dismissal, and/or loss of future registration privileges.
