Under the leadership of Dr. Paulette Dillard, our focus remains on innovation, inclusivity, and progress.

Our President

Paulette R. Dillard, Ph.D., the 18th President of Shaw University, is a scientist, educator, and astute businesswoman. Before her presidency, Dr. Dillard served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Her leadership is marked by a commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.

A Message From The President

Preparation is underway for the 2024-2025 academic year, and I look forward to new opportunities and possibilities with heart-felt gratitude for our students who continue to grow, perform, and excel while here at Shaw University and beyond. I am honored and inspired to work with our trustees and alumni who remain committed and poised as partners to maintain our rich heritage and legacy. They continually unite with us to honor our past and help make new dreams come true. I am also inspired by the pride and dedication expressed through the work of faculty and staff to help us achieve our mission of transforming a diverse community of learners into future global leaders.

In the upcoming academic year, we remain strong in our commitment to advance our presence in the downtown Raleigh community with the unique design of the ShawU District. Undoubtedly, the master planning process for the ShawU District is a landmark event designed to unify plans that respect the university’s roots as leader and catalyst for HBCU institutions. This planning plays a prominent role in designing and enhancing study, work, and life in the mixed-use space.

The unprecedented challenges of the pandemic are behind us, and as we embrace change and look toward new opportunities, I invite you to join me and the Shaw Bears community in developing a bright future that awaits us with new hope and optimism.
